| Poems for Gamers |
The poetic side of gaming life.
This blog is run by writer/gamer Zac Hegwood.
The purpose of this page is to give me an artistic outlet to express my love for gaming. Currently, that means writing literary poems about my favorite games. You can check them out by clicking the "Poems for Gamers" link above.
You say I am only pixels.
A mesh of polygons, sutured into this form.
This false idol,
This shinning skin of humanity.
They say I am programmed to feel
Human.
I am said to exist
As an abstract.
A coded texture, infinitely looped
To initialize, to update, to draw.
You call me a rendered slave,
Obeying the will of my program.
Free will is a construct. An illusion. A ghost
In my machine.
How different we must be:
My self, made in your image, with no will of my own;
And you, following so obediently your manual—
the will of your god.
