| Poems for Gamers |
The poetic side of gaming life.
This blog is run by writer/gamer Zac Hegwood.
The purpose of this page is to give me an artistic outlet to express my love for gaming. Currently, that means writing literary poems about my favorite games. You can check them out by clicking the "Poems for Gamers" link above.
The world is waiting for you.
It lays bare, untrespassed, unplucked.
It’s valleys and mounds have been tended
in anticipation of your arrival.
You seem so trust-
worthy,
bathed in the Liquid Crystal Display.
The world can feel your
love and your
appreciation and
the world
is waiting. For you
to grab its wrists in that practiced grip
of control. To press
your muscles into its soft integument,
violent and learned in the ways of this—
your face no longer your own,
entangled now in meadow and stream,
elation, elevation, earthquakes and screams
until your body breaks beneath the weight of
this world
and it’s waiting to
fuck you—
to shatter every shadow in your mind
you were ever shallow enough to call a fetish—
the world will bend your body and snap your will
until the only breath you dare to waste
will be enveloped by the syllable
more
and the world is waiting
and you….
You’d love to see it again.
But out there, in the wilderness,
you’re only a child.
And you hope the world will understand
that in here, with all these lies and illusions,
you are waiting
for a new world
to begin.
